Aurangzeb says third profitable review will include performance review
A delegation from the International Monetary Fund (IMF) arrived in Karachi to start talks on the third review of Pakistan’s Extended Fund Facility (EFF) programme. Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb said this on Wednesday. He added that formal meetings are scheduled to begin on Monday.
Speaking to the media in Islamabad, he said Pakistan will hold meetings with the IMF delegation in the capital. He added that the third review will include a performance evaluation.
The finance minister said Pakistan is in a good position regarding duty collection by the Federal Board of Revenue. He added that duty collection will also be discussed during the meetings with the IMF delegation.
Aurangzeb said Pakistan has no issues regarding the rollover of deposits from the United Arab Emirates (UAE). He added that Islamabad is in regular contact with the Gulf state on this matter.
Before the finance minister’s statement, sources said the IMF delegation met with officers from the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) in Karachi soon after their arrival.
The SBP officers will also brief the IMF team on anti-money laundering measures and anti-terror financing efforts, the sources added.
Sources said Pakistan is expected to receive $200 million under the Resilience and Sustainability Facility (RSF) programme if the third review under the EFF is completed successfully.
