Rescue workers are still clearing debris from the site. Iran’s state-run IRNA news agency reported that 63 others were injured on Saturday. The strike forms part of a wider wave of joint US-Israeli military attacks across Iran, which has sparked a surge in regional violence.

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi condemned the attack, saying it destroyed the girls’ school and killed “innocent children.”

“These crimes against the Iranian people will not go unanswered,” Araghchi wrote in a post on X.

Iran’s Foreign Ministry spokesperson, Esmaeil Baghaei, also denounced the strike as a “blatant crime” and urged the United Nations Security Council to take action.

Separately, Iran’s Mehr news agency reported that another Israeli strike hit a school east of Tehran, killing at least two teachers.

Civilian Casualties Challenge Military-Only Claims
