Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif instructs Pakistan Petroleum Ministry to create a fuel-saving plan

Shehbaz Sharif directed provincial governments on Friday to take strict action against petrol hoarding and ensure a stable fuel supply across the country.

Crackdown on Petrol Hoarders

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif ordered provincial authorities to seal petrol pumps involved in fuel hoarding, cancel their licenses, and start legal proceedings against those creating artificial shortages of petroleum products.

He issued these directives while chairing a high-level meeting on petroleum product availability. The prime minister told provinces to take immediate and strict legal action against hoarders.

Adequate Fuel Stocks Available

Officials from the Petroleum Ministry briefed the meeting on the current fuel situation. They assured the prime minister that Pakistan has sufficient petroleum stocks to meet national demand despite the evolving regional situation.

Petroleum Minister Assigned Key Task

The prime minister directed Ali Pervaiz Malik to visit all provinces and coordinate with provincial governments.

He asked the minister to prepare a comprehensive action plan to conserve petroleum products and maintain uninterrupted fuel supply for the public.

Real-Time Monitoring System Planned

Shehbaz Sharif also instructed authorities to create a digital dashboard to track petroleum product movement across the country.

The system will provide real-time data to provincial governments, helping officials monitor fuel transportation and distribution more effectively.

Key Officials Attend Meeting

Senior government officials attended the meeting, including Ishaq Dar, Jam Kamal Khan, Ahad Khan Cheema, Muhammad Aurangzeb, Attaullah Tarar, Awais Leghari, and Bilal Azhar Kayani.

Jameel Ahmad, chief secretaries from all four provinces, as well as representatives from Azad Jammu and Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan also joined the session.
